Settings & Data

The Settings module is the engine room of your account. Here you manage broker connections, import historical data, configure timezones, and perform system resets.

1. Broker Connections

OpenTrades supports both automated synchronization (via API) and manual CSV uploads.

Method A: Auto-Sync (IBKR)

We use Interactive Brokers Flex Queries for secure, read-only access.

  1. Click New Connection and select Interactive Brokers.
  2. Choose Auto-Sync (Flex Query) tab.
  3. Enter your Flex Token (Generated in IBKR Portal > Performance & Reports).
  4. Enter your Query ID (Create a new Activity Flex Query in IBKR).
  5. Click Connect & Sync. The system will pull your trade history immediately.

Method B: Manual CSV Upload

For other brokers or offline data, use the standardized CSV importer.

  1. Click New Connection and select Manual Upload.
  2. Download our CSV Template to ensure correct formatting.
  3. Map your columns: Symbol, Date, Time, Side (Buy/Sell), Quantity, Price, Commission.
  4. Upload the file. The system will parse and verify executions.

2. Timezone Configuration

Accurate timestamps are critical for the Alpha Engine to calculate "Time Held" and "MFE/MAE" correctly.

Broker Timezone

Most brokers export data in US/Eastern or UTC. Ensure you select the timezone that matches your CSV/API data source.

Display Timezone

This setting controls how times are displayed in your Journal. Set this to your local time (e.g., Australia/Sydney) to see trades in your own hours.

3. Data Management

Manage your connected accounts and existing data.

Re-Syncing Data

If you notice missing trades, click the Sync Now button on the specific broker card. This forces a fresh pull from the API.

Factory Reset

The Delete All Data action is destructive. It wipes all journals, trade logs, and insights. It does NOT cancel your subscription. Use this only if you want to start fresh with a clean database.
